On 5th February, I welcomed Steve Reed, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to visit the Ipswich tidal barrier. On his visit, the Secretary of State announced a record £2.65 billion investment into flood defences, which is a monumental 26% increase in funding.
I know that parts of our county and our region have been badly affected by flooding in recent years. This funding announcement is most welcome, therefore, to ensure that we can protect thousands more homes and businesses across Britain.
